HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
INTRODUCTION

The term human resource refers to the knowledge, skills, creative abilities, talents, aptitude, values and beliefs of an organization s workforce. The more important aspects of human resources are aptitude, values, attitudes and beliefs. But in a given situation, if these vital aspects remain same, the other aspects of human resources like knowledge, skills, creative abilities and talents play an important role in deciding the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization s workforce. However, enhancement of the utilization value of human resources depends on improvement of the human resource aspects like skill, knowledge, creative abilities and talents and molding of other aspects like values, beliefs, aptitude and attitude in accordance with the changing requirements of groups, organizations and society at large.
Human Resource Management means employing people, developing their resources, utilizing, maintaining and compensating their services in time with job and organizational requirements with a view to contribute to the organization, individual and the society. Human resource is the most significant and the only activity factor of production. All the other factors of production or inactive and are depend for their utilization on the human resource. For the development of an organization the perquisites is to develop the Human Resource. Human Resource development will involve up grading the skills, extending the knowledge and
Competency of Human resource. The concept of human resource development is comparatively of recent origin all though the development of human beings is one from are the other has been in existence even signs the beginning of civilization. In the later part of the 20th century before human resource development emerged as planned and systematic function, training was the only method used to develop the human resource.
MEANING OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Human Resource Management can be defined as managing (Planning organizing, directing & controlling) the functions of employing developing and compensating human resources resulting in the creation and developments of human relations with a view to contribute proportionately to the organizational, individual and social goals.
According to Leon C. Megginson, the term human resources can be thought of as the total knowledge, skills, creative abilities, talents and aptitudes of an organization, workforce, as well as the value, attitudes and beliefs of the individual involved .
FEATURES OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Human Resource Management is concerned with employees both as individual and as a group in attaining the goals. It is also concerned with behavior, emotional and social aspect of personnel.
It is concerned with development of human resource that is knowledge, capability, skills, potentiality and attaining achieving emit employee goals, including job satisfaction.
Human Resource Management covers all levels (Low, middle & top) and categories (Unskilled, skilled, technical professional, clerical and managerial) of employees. It covers both the organized and unorganized employees.
It applies to the employees in all types of organization in the world (Industry, trade, service, commerce, economic, social religious, political & government department) thus, it is common in all types of organization.
Organization goals may include survival, growth and development in addition to profitability, productivity, innovation, excellence etc.
It aims at attaining the goals of organization individuals and society in an integrated approach.
OBJECTIVES OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
To create and utilize an able and motivated workforce to accomplish the basic organizational goals.
To identify and satisfy individual and group needs by providing adequate and equitable usages, incentives, employee benefits and social security and measures for challenging work, prestige, recognition security, statues etc.
To establish and maintain sound organizational structure and desirable working relationships among all the members of the organization.
To create facilities and opportunities for individual or group development so as to match it with the growth of the organization.
To attain an effective utilization of human resources in the achievement of organizational goals.
To secure the integration of individual and groups within the organization by co-ordination of the individual and group goals with those of the organizations.
IMPORTANCE OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Human Resources plays a crucial role in the development process of modern economics. Arthur Lewis observed, There are great differences in development between countries which seem to have roughly equal resources, so it is necessary to enquire into the difference in human behavior . It is often felt that though the exploitation of natural resources, availability of physical and financial resources, availability of physical and financial resources and international aid play prominent roles in the growth of modern economies, none of these factors is more significant than efficient and committed manpower. It is infact said that all development comes from the human mind.
