Skybus metro rail is a project for a prototype rapid transit system within the Konkan Railway in India.Sky Bus Metro is based on the concept of Sky Wheels presented at World Congress for Railway research.The Konkan Railway Corporation has patented it and runs it in countries including India, US and south Africa. The system consists of an elevated track with the cars suspended below the track. It resembles the Wuppertal Schwebebahn railway system in the Germany. Margao, Goa has acted as the testground for it since 2004 where the tests are conducted on A 1.6 kilometre (1 mile) test track.
It provides a economically viable and environmental friendly solution for the transportation problem . The conventional solutions used are capital-intensive technologies and require a lot of subsidy. Hence they are proving to be financially unviable and not practical.
The problems of vandalism, derailments have been solved by using the innovative technology and the system is virtually maintenance free.

INTRODUCTION
The new technological solution, in terms of Sky Bus Metro is based on theconcept of Sky Wheels presented in 1989 at World Congress for Railway Research. The technologies used are: Well proven rail guided bogie system commonly used for normal railway system. Linear Induction Motor Technology or3 phase AC asynchronous electrical motive units well proven and widely adopted abroad as well as in India. Light weight coaches called Sky Buses which are suspended from bogies and travel below rail guides, the physics of which can be engineered very easily shells of coaches and suspension links well proven. Prefabricated latest construction technologies, which save time and money resulting in easy execution of the project in busy urban areas without disturbing the existing traffic pattern. These structural engineering methods are well proven which do not have any project execution risk attached.
