You're currently viewing a stripped down version of our content. View the full version with proper formatting.
Any machine that can forever without any extra energy given to it, is a perpetual motion machine obviously such machines requires energy to get than moving, but non thereafter. Every inventor, designer and scientist dreams of making such a machine which has the potential of solving most of the energy problems of this world. But the fact remains that it is impossible to develop such a machine.

Because at some point of their working they violate either the first or the second law of thermodynamics. Still many hopeful inventors over a period of time have tried to design such a machine. This seminar is a collection of such designs, their supposed working principles and where they failed by defying basic physics or the law of thermodynamics.

Any machine that can work continuously without any extra energy is known as a perpetual motion machine. It is impossible to develop such a machine because it violates the laws of thermodynamics. There are different ways of classifying these machines but the one that is generally accepted by physicists is according to the law they violate i.e.

1.) PM machines of the first kind, which violate the first law of thermodynamics. They produce more energy output than input.
2.) PM machines of the second kind, which violate the second law of thermodynamics. They involve or negative changes of entropy.
