Theme of Project (Overview)

The goal of this project is to develop a system, which uses a display system that displays the moving message.

This project mainly consists of microcontroller keypad and LCD. Keypad and display device are interfaced to the microcontroller. The required text to be scrolled in the LCD is prompted from the user.

The user needs to enter the text to be scrolled through keypad. After getting the inputs from the user the microcontroller starts displaying the information in LCD with scrolling effect.

Problems faced in the existing system

Existing system is not automated and static message is getting displayed

There is a manual effort needed to change the message when ever needed.

A variety of messages can not be stored, and, if desired, the sign can not display the time, day and date.

Consume high electricity.
Block Diagram Description

Power supply:
In this system we are using 5V power supply for microcontroller of Transmitter section as well as receiver section. We use rectifiers for converting the A.C. into D.C and a step down transformer to step down the voltage.
Microcontroller (8051 89C51):
In this project work the micro-controller is playing a major role. Micro-controllers were originally used as components in complicated process-control systems.
LCD Display Section:
This project makes use of Liquid Crystal Display to display / prompt for necessary information.
Keypad Section:
This section consists of a Matrix Keypad. The user needs to enter the text to be scrolled through keypad.

The main objective of the project is to interface an LCD with microcontroller and display the moving message on to the LCD. The software used to program is keil compiler.
