A Mobile Embedded system for Biotelemetry - vishnu s - 08-16-2017 A Mobile Embedded system for Biotelemetry By: Aju krishnan Guided by: Mr. Sanal K Daniel College Of Engineering Trivandrum What is biotelemetry? Remote measurement of vital biological parameters of a person Enables the monitoring of cardiovascular, asthma, Alzheimer's disease patients etc. The parameters that maybe monitored are: ECG, SpO2, heart rate, blood pressure etc. Measurements in biotelemetry Any quantity measurable in biomedical field can be adaptable Signals are categorized as: Bioeletric potentials Physiological potentials Elements of biotelemetric system The transducer converts the biological variable in to electrical Signal conditioner amplifies and modifies this signal for effective transmission Transmission page link connects the signal input blocks to the read out devices by wired or wireless means The biotelemetic system It is designed for monitoring patients biological parameters from a distance It is made from embedded hardware technology. It is partitioned into two logical parts that communicate using custom data protocols. The biotelemetry system The logical parts of the system are: The Inner part: It is located in the place where the patient spends most of the time. It contains the hardware for measuring the biological signals. The outer part: It is present at the hospital or the monitoring centre. The data finally reaches here. Inner part of the biotelemetric system CEREBRUS: Mobile data acquiring unit ORTHRUS: Stationary data forwarding unit. SENSORS: Stationary data acquiring unit Outer part of model biotelemetric system Many inner parts may connect to a single outer part. Communication through TCP and UDP protocols over fast ethernet. Data processing hardware units ORTHRUS and CEREBRUS contain the key data processing hardware Outer part-Standard Servers Data flows in the biotelemetric system Dataflow from the CEREBRUS element Dataflow from SENSOR elements Management dataflow Provisioning dataflow Dataflow from the CERBERUS element Three channel ECG data, Body & ambient temperature, Patient s posture Each assigned a Zigbee cluster ID for identification. Dataflow from the SENSOR elements The data measured are: Heart rate Blood pressure Oxygen saturation Body weight Patient s location Display unit with the patient It is part of CERBERUS Contains LCD display and keypad Visualization of the data Patient can see his vital signs Easy interpretation Management dataflow For centralized administration of the inner part of the Biotelemetric system Messages sent are: Notification and specification of error Battery charge Time setting Parameters of the Zigbee network Provisioning dataflow To provide initial setting for the starting of the ORTHRUS element It exists only in the outer part of the biotelemetric system. Challenges in biotelemetric systems System must have reasonable lifetime Security of the sent data against eavesdropping Security of the stored data in SERVERS. Future prospects Support for outdoor operation using 3G mobile technology and GPS for tracking Generation of power through energy scavenging Implantable transmitters [attachment=4140] report pdf: http://mediafirefile/7n2cyat22p95ozd/Design%20and%20Application%20of%20Mobile%20Embedded%20Systems%20for%20Home%20Care%20Applications.pdf |
