An approach using Remote Sensing and GIS technique :Prioritization of Watersheds - padayappa - 08-16-2017 [attachment=1668] Prioritization of Watersheds in Peruvamba river basin, Kannur district, Kerala: An integrated approach using Remote Sensing and GIS technique. Presented by: Sampad Kumar Panda M.Tech. Remote Sensing and GIS SRM University, Chennai. OBJECTIVE & MATERIALS To prepare natural resources inventories by analysis of Satellite data, Topographic map & other existing datas and records. Identifying the Priority areas for the sustainable development of resources by integration of relief, slope, aspect, geology, landform, soil type, drainage density, land use/land cover,NDVI, Draught prone etc. information using GIS. Spatial data: Survey Of India Topographic map 1:50,000 scale ( 48P/4 and 48P/8 ) Satellite Imagery(IRS LISS-II) Non-spatial data: Meteorological data Softwares: Arc GIS 9.2 Erdas imagine 8.7 IDRISI CONCLUSION&RECOMMENDATION About 168 km2 area is under high priority condition, that needs soil & water conservation. As fund comes to the Panchayat and municipality ,accordingly action plan should be taken. Conservation of water and soil in the agricultural sector is essential. Soil covered by crops, slows down run-off and minimizes evaporation losses and soil loss Hence, fields should not be left bare for long periods of time. |
