Microcontroller Based Automated Water Level Sensing and Controlling
The topic of water level monitoring and management is discussed in this article in the context of the electrical conductivity of water. The home power consumption and as well as water overflow can be reduced by using the Water Level management approach. Finally, as an advanced feature, a web and cellular based monitoring service protocol is also developed which would determine and sense water level globally.
BASIC CONCEPTS
The technique of water level monitoring and controlling system consists of the following parts.
-Water Level Indicator
A simple LED can be used as an indicator of the different water levels.
-Water Level Sensor
some convenient materials such as Iron rod, nozzles, resistance, rubber etc are used to make a convenient water level sensor. four nozzles are connected with +5v via a 1k resistance and an iron rod is connected to the ground. The nozzles are bound together and a rubber joint is connected at every joint to act as an insulator. When the sensor touches water, nozzles and connecting rod get electric connection using water conductivity.
Water Pump Controlling System
A microcontroller controls the water pump via the motor driver circuit. a manual switch is also included on the motor driver circuit
Microcontroller
The microcontroller takes care of the control, sequencing, monitoring and display functions.
Others
Mechanical relays are used to interface the microcontroller with high power devices such as motor.
