fabrication of furnace using infrared lamp pdf
#1

fabrication
objective

the project report aims at replacement of the existing roofing
materials by natural fibre composite materials.

to reduce the environmental degradation by using natural
fibre composite materials.

aims at the fabrication of economical and light weight
roofing materials.

problem identification

materials like slate, tiles seems to be heavy and costly.

metals like aluminium, steel, copper, are highly
expensive.

the high thermal conductivity of metals posses a major
problem while roofing.

materials like asbestos posses a great threat to human
life.

the non biodegradability of these materials are of
great concern.

plastics have only moderate resistance to environmental degradation (especially that caused by the photo-chemical effects of sunlight).

methodology

the banana fibre which is already treated with naoh to
remove the moisture is cut into small pieces and is mixed
with epoxy resin to form a mixture.

the mould for the roofing material is made.

the prepared mixture is applied over the mould to the
required thickness.

it is then placed at room temperature for solidification.

Far infrared is radiant heat, it s the same as the feeling of warmth from the sun on your face and the heat from a coal fire. It is even the same form of heat emitted by your own body.

It is the most basic form of heating known to man. Used by cavemen to heat themselves by fires; by Romans in their hypocausts, by log burners and tile stoves. Favoured for millennia because it heats objects, which then radiate back and keep the environment warm around you. Radiant heat does not heat air which holds little heat and disappears.

But in the last 60 years, we have forgotten about radiant heating: not because a better technology replaced it, but because fossil fuels that powered central heating made it so cheap to heat air.

Today, new technology, in the form of our 100% energy efficient Herschel far infrared heating panels, is allowing us to use radiant heating once more in a stylish, comfortable and highly controllable way.
