i think, its you can do by developing an equipment for measuring relative speed in between static sea and moving ship (i again think , force exerted by cross block against flow is directly proportional to relative speed)

yeah i thought of measuring rpm of propeller..but that may not be directly related to ship's velocity in some cases.. so i have to calculate the actual live speed of the ship..how can i do this??..

What exactly do you want to measure?The speed of the motor, speed of propeller or anything else?
