Wireless Smart Grid Design for Monitoring and Optimizing Electric Transmission in India

Smart Grid
It is an modern electric system.
Uses sensors, monitoring, communication,
automation and computers to improve the
flexibility, security, reliability, efficiency and safety of the electricity system .
Electricity grid since the 19th century has worked as a one way vehicle bringing power from large scale generation to Consumers.
NEED OF SMART GRID
India is world's 6th largest energy consumer.
80% of Indian villages have at least an Electricity line, just 44% of rural households have access to electricity.
The reduction of T&D losses was essential to bring economic viability to the State Utilities.
RELATED WORKS:
Reid describes the Smart Grid Initiative, aimed to provide remote meter reading capability, and systems which function without operator intervention.
This system described in utilizes a private high speed access network to connect the substation/ switchyard to the corporate network.
Smart Grid Benefits
Improves power reliability and quality
Facilitates expanded deployment of renewable energy sources
Automatic maintenance and operation
Presents opportunities to improve grid security
Increases consumer choice
Cost is high.
CONCLUSION:
This method will reduce the energy wastage and save a lot of energy for future use.
the new architecture proposed in this paper solves the main problems faced by Indian electrical system.
The system design mainly concentrates on single phase electric distribution system.
