ExpressCard Technology
The features of express card are:
-A Smaller & Faster PC Card Solution
-Supports USB 2.0 and PCI Express Applications
-Suitable for Mobile and Desktop Systems
-Lower System and Card Complexity

PCMCIA developed the ExpressCard standard to
carry forward the benefits of plug-in I/O cards to the
next generation of personal computing devices.PCMCIA member companies including technology leaders, system manufacturers, card manufacturers etc together developed this industry standard.

Module Sizes:
The smallest card, the ExpressCard/34
module, is almost half the size of a CardBus
card.
a wider card called an ExpressCard/54 module is also described to support those technologies which require a
physically larger module. All ExpressCard modules are 5mm thick.

Native Bus Connections:
The ExpressCard standard supports both the USB 2.0
and PCI Express interfaces. All host PC ExpressCard slots will support cards using
either interface.a bridge chip between the chipset and the
socket need not be integrated by the host platform. PCI Express and USB 2.0 are fully hotpluggable.

Host System Slots:
Mobile and Desktop host systems can provide
ExpressCard/34 slots where the space is limited and also the wider Universal ExpressCard slot to accommodate both module sizes.
