Digital Watermarking Applications and Advantages
Digital watermarking is defined as the imperceptibly altering a work in order to embed information about that work. In the recent years, watermarking has emerged as one of the solutions to the copyright protection problem.

Source Tracking is another application. In this application, different recipients get differently watermarked content.
In the application of Broadcast Monitoring, the television news often contains watermarked video from international agencies.
Covert Communication is also an application.

There are several ways of classifying the watermark depending on the various parameters considered:
Robustness
A watermark can be :
-fragile if the slightest modification maked difficult its detection
-semi-fragile if it resists benign transformations and succumbs to malignant transformations
-robust if it resists a designated class of transformations

Capacity
This is based on the length of the embedded data:
-The message is conceptually zero-bit long. Here , the presence or the absence of the watermark in the marked object is detected by the system.
-The other type is where the The message is a n-bit-long stream.

Perceptibility

The watermark can be perceptible if the presence of the watermark in the marked signal is noticeable but not intrusive. It is imperceptible if the original cover signal and the marked signal indistinguishable.
