Designing Software\'s Interface for Quadriplegic People
#1

ABSTRACT
Software is normally created with the idea that the users of the software are not having any disabilities and they can work with the Graphical User Interface (GUI) without any physical disabilities at all. It is often quoted by computer and system manufacturers that designing applications for users with disabilities is not cost-effective. The reason is that most computer systems are designed for not-disabled users and therefore systems that are addressed to disabled users need specialized interfaces. This is regarded to be of high design cost, since it serves a small market, due to the large variety of existing disabilities. Quadriplegic people, bed-ridden people with severe motor impairments also include this group. They too want to make use of the computers and software but their disability is pulling them back. In this seminars, I am trying a method for designing a user interface for quadriplegic people, with the help of which they can use computers without the help of others. Scanning technique is used for accessing the interface and the various aspects in that too will be discussed in the seminars. There are any issues to be sorted out for the successful implementation of the software and that too will be discussed.
