Scheme for Internship for Post-graduate

Number and Place of Internship

The total number of interns in a particular year shall not ordinarily exceed 210 except with the
approval of competent authority under deserving circumstances.
The applicants choosing for a group A topics, it is informed that all the offices of group A
are located in New Delhi including FOD regional office Delhi & DES Delhi and the applicants can
give options for all/any topic as per his/her order of preference. The applicants applying to a
particular Region/place may give option for all the offices located in that region/place. The
applicants choosing for a group B topic are informed that the field offices of NSSO (FOD) & DES
are located all over India, whereas SDRD & DPD are located in Kolkata. The applicants applying to
a particular Region/place may give option for all the offices located in that region/place.

4. Eligibility:

The applicant should be a citizen of India and pursuing his/her post-graduation/research from a
recognized College/University/Research institute in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Operational
Research/ Economics/ Demography or any of the applied field of Statistics.

5. Duration and Expected output from intern:

Each interns/student will undergo two month s duration of internship and shall be required to
present 2 copies of report/paper at the end of the assignment including inter-alia, his/her
observations and suggestions, if any, while conceiving any tangible improvement in the system.

Remuneration:
A token scholarship of Rs. 10,000/-(consolidated)@Rs.5000/- per month would be paid to the
selected intern on successful completion of his/her internship at the end of internship period. If any
intern leaves the internship scheme in between, he/she will not be entitled for any
scholarship/Certificate. A certificate will also be issued to the successful interns on completion of the
internship by the respective offices they are attached.

Facilities:
The intern would be attached with various offices of NSO, MOSPI, DES and other central
ministries, keeping in view the options exercised by them and the areas of interest expressed by the
applicant based on their merit.
To facilitate the intern in the pursuit of his/her assignment, each intern would be provided with a
minimum logistics support i.e. office space with intercom facility and computer with internet facility
etc.
For study material, the intern will have access to literature available in the Library/Office and
can interact with the concerned Division(s)/Officer through guide with whom he/she would be
attached to.
