FEASIBILITY STUDY:
All projects are feasible, given unlimited resources and infinite time. But the development of software is plagued by the scarcity of resources and difficulty delivery rates. It is both necessary and prudent to evaluate the feasibility of a project at the earliest possible time. Three key considerations are involved in the feasibility analysis.
Economic Feasibility:
This procedure is to determine the benefits and savings that are expected from a candidate system and compare them with the costs. If benefits outweigh costs, then the decision is made to design and implement the system. Otherwise, further justification or alteration in proposed system will have to be made if it is to have a chance of being approved.
Technical Feasibility:
Technical Feasibility centers on the existing computer system and to what extent it can support the proposed addition. If the budget is a serious constraint, then the project is judged not feasible.
Operational Feasibility:
People are inherently resistant to change, add computers have been known to facilitate change. It is understandable that the introduction of a candidate system requires special effort to educate, sell and train the staff on new ways of conducting business.
REQUIREMENT & ANALYSIS
Introduction:
After analyzing the requirements of the task to be performed, the next step is to analyze the problem and understand its context. The activity in the phase is studying the existing system and others is to understand the requirements and domain of the new system. Both the activities are equally important, but the first activity serves as a basis of giving the functional specifications and then successful design of the proposed system. Understanding the properties and requirements of a new system is more difficult and requires creative thinking and understanding of existing running system is also difficult, improper understanding of present system can lead diversion from solution.
