ACCIDENT DETECTION ON HIGHWAYS

[attachment=16534]

Introduction:
Automatic Accident Detection System is a preventive measure kind of system. We were encouraged to design and develop this system by learning about an accident on Expressway.
This accident had happened few weeks back. A car collided with a truck on expressway and car s driver was moderately injured. His injuries though not fatal, were cut open causing blood to flow out. Due to unavailability of immediate medical help he was lying on the accident spot for almost 2-3 hours. He almost bled to death. This accident went un-noticed for hours as it was night and none of the cars passing by could notice it due to absence of street lights on expressway. The man expired from cardiac arrest due to extreme blood loss.

Introduction to RFID
Although the foundation of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology was laid by past generations, only recent advances opened an expanding application range to its practical implementation.
RFID is only one of numerous technologies grouped under the term Automatic Identification (Auto ID), such as bar code, magnetic inks, optical character recognition, voice recognition, touch memory, smart cards, biometrics etc. Auto ID technologies are a new way of controlling information and material flow, especially suitable for large production networks.

What is RFID?
RFID is a radio frequency identification technology which facilitates a wireless communication and falls in an area of automatic identification which has quickly been gaining momentum in recent years and is now being seen as a radical means of enhancing data handling processes, complimentary in many ways to other capture technology such as bar coding. A range of devices and associated systems are available to satisfy an even broader range of application which will change the course of the industry in coming years.
