Data collection Using Handheld devices
Hand Held devices are becoming more and more popular these days. They are packed with a lot of features that a common man or an advanced user would want. The smart phones currently available in the market have more processing power and memory than the desktop PCs 6 years ago. These devices are connected devices with many communication options like infrared, Bluetooth, Wifi, SMS and GPRS.
In this project the requirement is to study the working of 100 filed staff of Health Action By People and find out ways in which we can make their work easier. Each of these 100 people goes out to the field every day and collects diabetes information. Then in the evening they call up the central office and pass the information. This is a tedious work. We will implement a system by which they can enter the data they collect into a mobile phone and send it to a server. The system consists of 2 parts.
The Mobile Application
The Server Application
The Mobile application is written on devices that run windows mobile OS. They send the data to a server which will use either PHP or ASP. The project aims to simplify the work process. The need for data entry operators are eliminated. The cost on phone bills is reduced.
