VEHICLE INFRASTRUCTURE INTEGRATION (VII) IN THE US – ENHANCING SAFE
#1

VEHICLE INFRASTRUCTURE INTEGRATION (VII) IN THE US ENHANCING SAFETY. ENABLING MOBILITY.

ABSTRACT:
VII or Vehicle Infrastructure Initiative is listed as a new DSRC (Dedicated short range communication) protocol, it is more than DSRC, it is a major advancement in ITS for vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to road side system. The 5.9Ghz wave protocol provides the range, throughput capacity and low latency to handle current and future ITS roles and capabilities, Future e-payment system has the potential to provide tolling. Priority toll / HOV lanes, congestion charging and distance- time-location based service.
In this project, various practical application of VII has been discussed. Many applications are tested such as electronic payment parking, In-Vehicle Signage work zone warning, curve speed warning, Traveler information, Electronic toll collection, Ramp Metering, Stop Sign Violation warning, Traffic signal violation warning, Electronic brake warning, Intersection collision avoidance system, etc.
The system has 5.9Ghz wide spectrum frequency range for high speed data communication. Each vehicle has sophisticated RF device and location reference system, display, alarm etc. An exclusive Road Side Equipment (RSE) communicates with each vehicle and the data will be transferred to a central monitoring system.
