Result Analysis

EXISTING SYSTEM & NEED FOR COMPUTERIZATION

Existing system

The existing system is fully manual. The student s marks are recorded manually on blank papers. The different calculations like percentage, who is the topper, how many pass and fail are there subject wise, overall result are found manually which consumes lot of time. The need of analysis of result as a whole is very difficult. The limitations like time consuming, insecurity, loss of data aroused the need for the proposed system.

To provide prosperity and better environment to the result analysis system of MITWEC, the movement from the existing manual system to a computerized system, so as to desire the additional benefits such as increase operation efficiency, reduced paper work and integration of various systems, was required.

The process which was manually done was responsible by the staffs who used to find it difficult to refer the result as a whole. So the existing system did not consist of any easy method of analyzing the result as a whole. The administrator had to find manually how many students have got less than the marks required to pass. These were major reasons for the need of computerization of the result analysis process. The details of the faculty, students, subjects, semesters and departments are also difficult to be maintained. A lot of paper work, insecurity and time consuming process are the major disadvantages of the existing system.

Need of computerization
Existing system was manual.
Calculation was time consuming and still not error free.
Huge manual compilation involved while creating reports for the results.
Different kinds of reports like overall comparison of the marks of a particular class or department to the management were not possible.
Decision-making was not so easy.
The stand of the college could be known only through a systematic system.
The graphical reports could be generated easily through a computerized system
The computerization is also required for a proper provision for editing, adding and deleting the various details of the faculty, student, subject, semester and department
Hardware Requirement
1. Pentium II 450 MHZ Processor and above.
2. Minimum 10GB HD.
3. Minimum 64 MB of RAM.
4. Dot Matrix, Inkjet or Laser Printer attached to Printer Port.
5. Standard Keyboard and Serial Mouse.
6. CD-ROM Drive (24x and above)

Software Requirement
1. Windows 2000/ XP Server and above.
2. SQL Server 2000.
3. JSP, Servlet, JDBC, HTML
4. APACHE-TOMCAT 4.25

5 STAKEHOLDERS OF THE PROJECT

The stakeholders of the project will be the Administrator of MITWEC as he will be using the software and developer of the system. Then the management would also benefit from the system.

1.6 ADVANTAGES OF EXISTING SYSTEM

1. As the current system is manual it does not require any sophisticated training for the User of the system.
2. The system is well known to the people working in the system so the system is well known to everybody.
3. Maintenance of records is not expensive.

1.7 PURPOSE OF THE SYSTEM

The purpose of the system is to generate a user friendly environment to generate the various reports of the students like the subject wise report, practical reports, overall class result report, percentage wise report, how many pass and fail for each subject s report and their respective graphical representations for convenient analysis. The computerization is also required for a proper provision for editing, adding and deleting the various details of the faculty, student, subject, semester and department. With the proposed system a proper database of the details can also be maintained.

1.8 FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Functional Requirements that the System satisfies are:
1. The system validates the data entered by the user before storing the data in the table.
2. The system gives out report as entering marks by the User.
3. The system fully supports Master records

1.9 NON FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Non-functional Requirements that the system satisfies are:

1.9.1) Look and Feel

1. The screen layouts are very user friendly; it gives the user of the system typical window look and feel.
2. Where required proper Navigational key and Buttons are provided to help the user of the system.

1.9.2) Performance Requirements

1. The system accepts the query, process the data and gives out the required result as needed by the administrator.
2. The system is successful in maintaining the consistency of data.

PROPOSED SYSTEM

Proposed system encompasses study of present system thus finding out Drawbacks of the system, requirement analysis, planning and scheduling, design Development, testing, installation trails runs with small pieces of live data and Training the user to use and also to maintain the system for the better use.

The proposed system maintains consistency of data throughout the system. It contains normalized data which is easy to store and retrieve from. It can generate subject wise report, percentage wise report, practical report, overall result of class report, overall pass in each subject report and graphs for every report that are beneficial to the MITWEC in taking the action. It is secure and fast. The proposed system will require less manpower.

2.2 OBJECTIVE OF SYSTEM

1. From the proposed system we can save a lot of time which is a major factor.

2. The login and password page also secures your system properly

3. The calculations are done accurately. Thus accuracy is a major advantage thus

the objective of the system.

2.3 USER REQUIREMENTS

1. Maintain records regarding Students, their marks for different subjects, which class and reports for the organization.
2. Record Theory and Practical marks of students from user
3. Generate subject wise report, percentage wise report, practical report, overall result of class report, overall pass in each subject report and graphs for every report.
4. Calculate the percentage of the students of each subject and find out the topper.
5. Dynamic identification for classes and subjects.
