#1

This seminar deals on Sony Dynamic Digital Sound. Sound is an important factor of the film. In order to provide better sound quality for cinema, Sony Electronics developed new sound format Sony Dynamic Digital Sound.
This sound format is design for moving pictures only. The sound is recorded on the both edges of the 35mm film. On of the important property of this format is it can provide up to 8 channels.
The SDDS consists of different parts, such as recorder, reader, decoder etc. the reader is placed on the top of the projector. The film is threaded through the reader before it passes through film aperture. The reader reads the data in the film and passes to the decoder. The decoder is the main part of the SDDS. It performs a lot of functions such as error detection, error correction, channel separation etc. the decoded data is given to the power amplifier of the theater.
Nowadays almost all Hollywood films are equipped with SDDS. In future SDDS may completely replace the existing sound formats.
