Organometallic Complexes
organometallic is the compounds which are having at least one direct metal-carbon bond. The metal can be main group, transition or f-group metal, also include boron, silicon, germanium, arsenic, antimony, selenium, and tellurium. The carbon-containing group(s) may be a carbonyl, alkyl, alkene, alkyne, aromatic, cyclic, or heterocyclic compound.
* The field of organometallic Pharmaceuticals dates back to the end of the 1970, Kopf and Kopf-Maier investigated the antitumor activity of early transition-metal cyclopentadienyl complexes.
* Organometallics of both transition and non-transition metals plays important role in the treatment of cancer and other infectious diseases.
* Transition organometallic complexes display innovative applications in biology and medicine.
* The incorporation of organometallic functional group into a biomolecule modify its properties has been recently developed as main feature of biorganometallic chemistry.
* It is a nascent field of research combining organometallic compounds and reactivity with aspects from biological, pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry.
* Up to a few years ago, synthetic methods enabling to page link transition organometallic moieties to biological macro molecules were lacking, thus limiting their interest.
