Metal-Matrix Composite Processing
#1

Aluminium(Al) ,Copper(Cu) and Magnesium(Mg) alloys can be combined with Silicon carbide(SiC),alumina(Al2O3),boron carbide(B4C),graphite(Gr)and other particulate fiber or whiskers reinforcements to significantly increase stiffness or improve the thermophysical properties of components. The application arena for for metal matrix composites is continually expanding as the cost effectiveness mature.Using various properties of metal matrix composites, they can be widely applied in the following fields.
1.Space
2.Commercial
3.Marine
4.Medical.
Composite materials have high specific stiffness and strength for weight savings and durability. They have outstanding wear resistance for longevity and reduced maintenance. High thermal conductivity for rapid heat dissipation Low coefficient of thermal expansion for dimensional stability components and structures made from ceramic reinforced metal by casting or infiltration processes are being used in products for robotics, sporting goods, industrial process equipment, electronics packaging, aerospace, medical instrumentation, and automotive applications.

A composite material with at least two constituent parts, is commonly known as a metal matrix composite (MMC).When at least three materials are present, it is called a hybrid composite. An MMC is complementary to a cermet.
