This article presents a new method for the purpose of computing the grayscale morphological operations with arbitrary 2-D flat structuring elements (S.E.).In the method, the image content and the number of gray levels used does not influence the computing time required. The work done by Van Droogen broeck and Talbot is the only comparable work done in this field and the proposed method outperforms this one. The the operator for each size and shape of the S.E must be done separately, but here the filtering with multiple S.E.s is done in one operation and this reduces the computation requirements very much. As a result, the method finds applications in the areas like granulometries, dilation-erosion scale spaces, and template matching using the hit-or-miss transform.erosions and dilations is the main discussion in the article. other transformations can be derived from this discussion itself.
