ABSTRACT


The power transfer capability of long transmission lines is usually limited by thermal capability, dielectric strength and a number of stability issues. Economic factors, such as high cost of long lines and revenue from the delivery of additional power, give strong incentives to explore all economically and technically feasible means of raising the stability limit. The family of FACTS devices includes the Static Var Compensators (SVCs), Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOMs), Thyristor Controlled Series Compensators (TCSCs), the Static Synchronous Series Compensators (SSCs), and the Unified Power Flow Controllers (UPFCs).

INTRODUCTION

The control mechanism and the controller has an important effect on the performance of upfc.
So, A FUZZY LOGIC CONTROL SYSTEM is proposed which is used to effectively improve the dynamic control of real and reactive power.
The fuzzy logic control system is not sensitive to the variation of the system structure, parameters and operating points .
The most attractive feature is its capability of incorporating human knowledge to the controller with ease .
This approach provides better functionality, performance,
adaptability, reliability and robustness.
