A device to detect drunken driving-BREATH-O-METER

With innumerable number of road accidents happening everyday, every year due to drunken driving has become an important issue of concern. The life threatening addiction of alcohol has ruined many lives and futures.The device BREATH-O-METER detects and alerts about the level of alcohol consumed by a person. It provides a a non-invasive method of measuring the human s blood alcohol content (BAC).
The first breath analyzer used used chemical oxidation and photometry to determine alcohol concentration. The detectors that followed have converted primarily to infrared spectroscopy.

PROBLEM DEFINITION:
-Affects of alcohol & traffic on quality of life:
The recognition that drunk driving posed a major danger to the public is as old as motorized traffic. About 3.2% of all deaths globally are attributed to alcohol, and that alcohol is the foremost
risk to health in low-mortality developing countries.

-Effects of alcohol on the body:
Alcohol is a is a potent central nervous system depressant. The
concentration of alcohol in blood is usually given by BAC. Initially, alcohol generally produces feelings of relaxation and cheerfulness, but
further consumption can lead to blurred vision and coordination problems.

Overview
The ATmega32 is a low-power CMOS 8-bit microcontroller based on the AVR enhanced RISC architecture.

Alcohol Sensor:
Figaro TGS 2620 is used for the detection of the vapours. Due to miniaturization of the
sensing chip, TGS 2620 requires a heater current of only 42mA and the device is housed
in a standard TO-5 package.

Pressure Sensor:
Motorola MPX2050-It is a silicon Piezoresistive pressure sensor providing a highly accurate and linear voltage output directly proportional to the applied pressure.

MQ135 Gas Sensor:
It is a Wide detecting scope Fast response and High sensitivity Stable and long life Simple drive circuit.

CODING:
It is done in the c programming language. AT89X51.H is a header file for the AT89C51 which Includes the definitions for Ports.

hey, there is no problem downloading the pdf. Just click on the page link in the report and the pdf will open in a new window. make sure you have adobe pdf reader. Otherwise you wan't be able to open the file.
