VLSI Implementation of neuron
#1

This article describes the implementation of A minimal neuron model, the Morris-Lecar model. It is is implemented on field programmable analog arrays (FPAAs). The work involves solving the differential equation describing the model. It is done in a way similar way a computer solves the same problem: numerically integrate the differential equation The approach here is to The arithmetic operations are performed on the voltage mode circuits of the FPAAs.This neuron is limited by the limitations on the configurability of the FPAAs. Similar models can be made to run accurately in real-time or many orders faster than the conventional. biologically relevant dynamics can be observed from the electronic neuron. The off-the-shelf software-reconfigurable analog circuit elements can be used to easily implement the neuron models.
