Morgan Zintec Teachers College is one of Zimbabwe's first Teacher training institutions that produces Primary School level teachers in the form of a University of Zimbabwe issued Diploma.

Institutional History
After Zimbabwe's Independence in 1980 the Government realised that there would be a high demand for teachers as people would not come out of the "bush" due to the end of the war, hence it created a direct push in establishing teacher learning centres.
In Arcadia, was where a former predominately coloured neighbourhood housed Morgan High School. Government then decided to convert the boarding facility of the high school together with its dining facility into Morgan Zintec Teachers College.
Its doors would open in 1981 after turning 3 hostels, 3 staff houses and the dining hall into the Zimbabwe Intergrated National Teacher Educational Course (ZINTEC) which to this day still works closely with Morgan High School.
The drive and the push was to develop cadres that would be prepared to work in the rural areas as the need for learning institutions in such areas was (and still is) high.
Morgan Zintec Teachers College Intake
The Teachers college trains students in a 3 year Diploma in Education offered by the University of Zimbabwe, through the Department of Teacher Education. One qualifies to be a Primary School teacher on completion. The institution enrols students with a General Certificate In Education with at least 5 Ordinary Level Passes, Mathematics and English Language being compulsory. Students with a "Grade C" or better are encouraged to apply, but higher grades will be considered depending on the stiffness of the competition that period of intake.
When Is The Intake?
The College performs an intake after every "9 term" cycle (it takes 9 terms for one to finish the course) and there is usually an intake every year. Currently, the next intake will be in

How Do You Apply?
Applications with necessary qualifications are invited by way of advertisements in both The Sunday Mail and The Herald 2 3 months prior to intake.
Vetting of the applications then take place and selected candidates are invited for interviews at the institution.
An offer letter, together with requirements are sent to the successful applicants and they can go ahead and pay tuition (first term is $451, subsequent terms are cheaper however)
Limited accommodation is available, with preference being given to students that are "most deserving". An extra fee is charged for accommodation.

The following quote from a college lecturer illustrates the vision of the programme:
"If you want the teacher to be caring towards the children and to create a caring environment, the student teacher needs to become caring. Therefore the lecturer needs to be a role model of care towards the student teacher and try to create a caring environment at the college. And Administration towards the lecturers"

Morgan Zintec Teachers College is one of the first teacher education institutions in Zimbabwe to produce elementary school teachers in the form of a diploma from the University of Zimbabwe.

Institutional History

After the Independence of Zimbabwe in 1980 the Government realized that there would be a great demand of teachers since people would not leave the "bush" due to the end of the war, reason why created a direct push in the establishment of centers Of teacher learning. In Arcadia, it was where an earlier predominantly colored neighbourhood housed Morgan High School. The government then decided to convert the High School Boarding Facility together with its dinner site at Morgan Zintec Teachers College.

Its doors would be opened in 1981 after converting 3 hostels, 3 staff houses and the dining room into the Zimbabwe Integrated National Teacher Education Course (ZINTEC), which to this day still works closely with Morgan High School. The impulse and push was to develop pictures that would be prepared to work in rural areas while the need for learning institutions in such areas was (and still is) high.

VISION

To be the centre for quality teaching practice supervision in which instructional deficiencies are taken care of through the involvement of stakeholders and the use of individualised student teacher instruction/ coaching.

MISSION

To afford every student teacher on teaching practice an opportunity for a face to face interaction with supervisors at the service delivery point.

ACTIVITIES

Planning teaching practice supervision schedules.
Creating teaching practice profiles.
Planning remedial session for low achievers as well as creating opportunities for high achievers to excel.
Planning mentoring workshops.
Presenting student teachers to the Department of Teacher Education of the University of Zimbabwe for examining.
Preparing student teachers for peer group teaching and micro-teaching.
Supervising micro- teaching.
Delivering lectures on topics to do with teaching practice.
Identifying student teachers who need counselling services while on teaching practice and referring these student teachers to counselling specialists.
Assisting student teachers to overcome challenges they meet while on teaching practice.
Working with partners such as school administrators to create an environment that is conducive to effective teaching practice .
