PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS
ഘടന
Subject + has / have + been + verb + ing + Since / for + time
eg. They have been playing since four o'clock
Uses
1. To express an action which began in the past and going on at the time of speaking,
eg. She has been working there for 10 years
Since point of time നെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു
For period of time സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു
ഘടന
subject + past form of verb+ object
eg. She left school last year
Uses
1. സംഭവിച്ച കാര്യങ്ങളെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു
eg. India became independent in 1947.
2. ഭൂതകാലത്തെ ശീലങ്ങളെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു
She always came late to the class last month.
3. ഒന്നിന് പുറകെ മറ്റൊന്നായി സംഭവിച്ച രണ്ടു
കാര്യങ്ങളെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
eg. When the teacher entered the class the students stood up.
It is time, It is high time, it is long since,
It is ages/yearsഎന്നിവക്ക് ശേഷം simple past ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.
eg. It is time you reached there
It is high time we left the place
It is time + for + pronoun (objective case)+to infinitive
eg. It is time for you to reach there
It is time + to infinitive
eg. It is time to go to bed
Yesterday, the day before yesterday, last week, last month, a few months ago എന്നിവ Simple Past ൽ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു

Subject + was / were + verb + ing + object
eg: She was reading the Vijayarekha.
uses
l. ഒരു സംഭവം നടക്കുകയായിരുന്നപ്പോൾ മറ്റൊരു സംഭവം നടന്നു എന്നു സൂചിപ്പിക്കാൻ
eg. When I saw him, he was playing chess
2. ഒരേ സമയത്ത് സംഭവിക്കുകയായിരുന്ന രണ്ട് കാര്യങ്ങളെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കാൻ
eg. While I was driving she was reading a novel.
