Infinitive
*auxiliary verbs ഇല്ലാത്ത ഒരു  verb ന്റെ ധാതുരൂപത്തെ Infinitive/bare infinitive എന്ന് പറയുന്നു.Infinitiveന്റെ മുൻപിൽ ‘to'ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ അതിനെ  ‘Infinitive  എന്നു പറയുന്നു .
eg: 1) I want to go. 
2) I saw him do it.
*Will would, shall, should, can, could, may, might must, needn't, daren't, do, does, did എന്നീ  auxiliaries ന് ശേഷം  bare infinitive ആയിരിക്കണം. eg: 1) I will not let you go.
2) He can speak five languages.
*Had better, had rather, would rather, rather than,
sooner than എന്നിവയ്ക്ക്  ശേഷം  bare infinitive ഉപയോഗിക്കണം.
eg: You had better----- permission. 
(a) asking               (b) to ask           (c ) ask         (d) asked 
Ans : (c )
*Bare infinitive is used after bid, behold, dare, except, feel, find, hear, let, make, need, notice, save, see, than, watch.
eg :  Let him------------ here.
(a) to sit         (b) sit          (c ) sitting           (d) Sat
 Ans : (b) 
*Appear, attempt, care, claim, consent, decide,decline, fail, happen, hope, long, manage,Plan.promise,refuse,seem,threaten,Wish,vowഎന്നിവയ്ക്കു ശേഷം  to infinitive ആണ് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്.
eg :  My father has given me his consent------ her. 
(a) marry                   (b) to  marry
(c ) marrying              (d) married
Ans: (b)
*’Used to’ വിന് ശേഷം  bare infinitive ആയിരിക്കും.
eg : I used to live my uncle’s house when I was in delhi
* Used to  വിന്  മുൻപ് ‘be’ form ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ  Used to വിന് ശേഷം Verb+ing ഉപയോഗിക്കണം 
eg : He is used to visiting the  Tajmahal when he comes to Delhi


Gerund
ഒരു verb നോട് കൂടി 'ing' ചേർത്താൽ അത്  Gerund ആകുന്നു . 
it is no use, it is no good, do you mind, would you mind, look forward to എന്നിവയ്ക്ക്  ശേഷം Gerund ആയിരിക്കും.
eg: It is no use------- him. 
(a) to phone (b) phone (c ) phoning (d) phoned 
Ans: (c )
2) Do you mind------- a glass of water. 
(a) give           (b) gave          (c ) giving           (d) to give 
Ans: (c )
eg .  Jeevan enjoys watching movies.
