The teacher eligibility test known as TET is an entrance examination for teachers in India. The test is required to obtain teaching assignments in public schools from Class 1 to Class 8. Paper 1 is intended for teachers who opt for Class 1 to Class 5 and Paper 2 for Class 6 to Class 8. It is conducted both by The Central Government as well as by the State Governments of India. Most states conduct their own TET. The test is carried out in order to meet and achieve the objectives of the Law of Children's Right to Free and Compulsory Education.
