It defies economic logic, determination and, therefore, doomed to failure. the technological scenario has changed dramatically since the days of Mahatma Gandhi. The village too deeply integrated with the urban economy at present. They get electricity, diesel fuel, chemical fertilizers, higher education, television sets, mobile phones and a host of other factors of production and of consumption. Self-sufficiency is pass . There is a need to revisit the idea.

Modern technology has changed the complexion of the Indian Agriculture. a large number of villages were formed in the past because there was growing by Draught animals. The village that had been located at convenient distances for animals. For example, the villages at a distance of about 2 km in the plains of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Bullock will have to walk about a kilometer in each direction on the field. Walking distance to reduce more energy available for plowing fields. The village is located approximately 5 kilometers-4 in desert areas of Rajasthan. The camel can cover long distances easily, and, thus, were are the villages over long distances. On the other hand, people living in the middle of the field, in their tribal areas across the country. Animals spend too much of its energy will be in the ascent to the mountains to get to the fields. It would have been understandable, location and size of locality depends on the nature of power, used for processing fields.

My score is only about ten percent of that of all cultivation of the Draught animals now. There's no reason now that people lived in small villages located at short distances. They can live in small towns easily ten or fifteen kilometers located in the distance and to the cultivation of their fields from Ther.

The question is whether we still maintain a small villages in this situation change. There are many advantages to living in small towns. supply of piped drinking water in cities. My village in Rajasthan has a population of 15000. But people in the small villages surrounding suffers. Suha water schemes were not Ther. Pumps don't often work, where they have been installed. Thes folks have transported drinking water through tankers. the Government is not able to supply drinking water in THESE small villages. Long pipe must be laid to achieve small populations. There is a large leak. More power is consumed in pumping the water. the cost of long pipelines service above. the Government has no alternative but to use the limited resources in the first STI water supply in cities and towns.

Research students also affects women more difficulties. They must clear the lights every day. Entertainment facilities like cable television and video shops or in the movie is not available. It is not possible to watch a movie in the night show in the village if someone lives.

The simple fact that it's a lot of these cheap to provide all civilian objects, if the people live in cities than in rural areas. One Government engineer the approximate cost of this drinking water supply in the village about ten times that of the city. the same is true for the road, power, hospitals and other services. It's just more efficient and convenient to live in cities. It's always been that way. But it was not possible to live in urban areas, because animals had to go on the field. There were small villages, so nasty coercion year. This restriction was now broken with a tractor.
