Vehicle Accident Prevention using the eye-blink sensor (electronics project)
Vehicle accidents are more common if driving is inadequate. These occur on most factors if the driver is drowsy or if he is an alcoholic. Drowsiness of the driver is recognized as an important factor in the accidents of the vehicle.

It was shown that driving performance deteriorates with increasing drowsiness with resulting accidents that constitute more than 20% of all vehicle accidents. But life once lost can not be re-winded. Advanced technology offers some hope of avoiding these to some extent.

This project involves measuring and controlling the blinking of the eyes using an IR sensor. The IR transmitter is used to transmit the infrared rays in our eye. The IR receiver is used to receive the reflected infrared rays of the eye. If the eye is closed it means that the output of the IR receiver is high, otherwise the output of the IR receiver is low. This is to know that the eye is closing or opening the position. This output is to give the logic circuit to indicate the alarm.

This project helps to control accidents due to unconsciousness through blinking of the eyes. Here an eye blink sensor is fixed on the vehicle where if the driver loses consciousness then it is indicated through the alarm.

A car simulator study was designed to collect physiological data for the validation of this technology. We present the methodology for the analysis of physiological data, the independent evaluation of the driver's drowsiness and the development of the algorithm of detection of drowsiness through sequential adjustment and selection of regression models.
