Bamboo as reinforcement in structural concrete elements
The construction industry consumes energy and materials the most in almost all the countries. To increase the amount of information concerning bamboo as a building material, several programmes have been deviised. The vegetable fibres have been used as the as reinforcement in different types of matrices such as soil and cement composites or as standalone construction material. A few results about the use of the microstructure of bamboo as a functionally gradient material has been presented in the article.
One laminated bamboo-frame house per hectare per year
A complete quantitative analysis that demonstrates the global potential of bamboo as a modern construction material is presented in this article. focussing on renewable resources is the main aim of this shift towards using bamboo. Bamboo can replace the concrete, brick and (hard)wood in particular. laminated bamboo-frame building can be a viable alternative to wood frame building. the environmental impact of the built environment can be reduced by using bamboo.
An environmental, economic and practical assessment of bamboo as a building material for supporting structures
Here, bamboo columns were environmentally and financially assessed and compared to building materials more common in Western Europe. failure of building with bamboo was also assessed.
