PREAMBLE:

Recruitment and selection of students in the Eastern Cape should ensure the accessibility of nursing education programs to both rural and urban candidates and alleviate a large shortage of nurses in the Province, especially in remote rural areas.

GENERAL NOTES

Potential students must meet minimum statutory requirements based on the Senior National Certificate (NSC) or equivalent discharge certificate for admission to the certificate or higher diploma programs and the candidate's education certificate.
Provisional admission will be based on the levels / symbols obtained in the June / September 12th grade exams or confirmation that the study license is being processed by the current employer. However, the final decision to study at Lilitha College of Nursing will be based on the final results of grade 12, confirmation that the applicant has received study permit from the employer and has not reached retirement age (55-60) Applicable to all university programs;
There are specific requirements for all specific programs. The Intake Point System (APS) is used to assign point values to NSC or equivalent subjects:
There are limits to the number of students who can be admitted to each program, as this depends on the capacity accredited by the South African Nursing Council. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance or automatic registration to the specified program. Candidates must undergo examinations and interviews as a means to further examine the candidates.
Candidates who have a health-related post-matriculation experience or certificate will be registered in accordance with the quota identified for that group as specified below:
Students: 50%
Candidates with NSC grade 12 certificate: 20%
Candidates with health experience / post-graduate certificate: 10%
Officials: 20%
Please note that admission requirements are subject to change and the university:
invest heavily in nurses for ECDoH facilities;
will not invest in candidates who have tried other paths such as deserted universities / technicians / colleges and;
will not invest in candidates with other qualifications. If this is discovered at any stage during the process, the candidate will be disqualified.
