IMPLEMENTATION OF PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER IN MIXER
#1

ABSTRACT:

A PLC or programmable controller is a digital computer used for automation of electro mechanical processes, such as control of machinery on factory assembly lines.
In past humans was main method for controlling a system. More recently electricity has been used for control and early electrical based on relays. These relays allow power to be switched on and off without a mechanical switch it is common to use relays to make simple logic control decisions.
The development of low cost computer has brought the most recent revolution. The advent of the PLC begun in 1970 s.
By the usage of PLC we can effectively control the mixer in steel plants (VSP). The purpose of a mixer is to store HOT METAL brought from Blast Furnace (BF), which is to be fed to convertor for the preparation of LIQUID METAL in Steel Melting Shop (SMS). PLC contain a variable input and output ports and are typically reduced instruction set computer (RISC) based.
An electromechanical relay panel replaced by programmable logic controller than increase production, flexibility
(Ability to change a process quickly), reduce delay time, size of electrical control system (which is having large no of interconnected electromechanical relay), easy identify the type of fault (display on screening).
The main aim of this project by usage of advanced technology of PLC s we can improve the overall efficiency of the system.
