COALGATE SCAM
Coalgate scam is a political scandal of allocation of coal blocks by government to public sector entities and private companies. It came into limelight after the CAG report issued in march 2012 accused the government of India for allocating coal blocks in an inefficient manner during the period of 2004-2009. CAG report pegged the loss at Rs 1.86 lakh crore due to opaque policy in selecting beneficiaries.
