Mechanical Design of a Robotic System for Automatic Installation of Magnetic Markers on the Roadway

MAGNETIC REFERENCE MARKER INSTALLATION :

n Involves drilling the roadway surface.

n Stacked ceramic magnets and neodymium magnets require hole depth that are just 10.1 cm and 2.5 cm.

n Vehicles depend on the magnet for speed detection and lateral road position.

STRUCTURAL DESIGN :

n Special attention needs to be paid to the design of linear slides for smooth and proper operation.

n Roller wheel are used for smooth running in presence of dust and dirt.

n Low maintenance

n Lower wheel is used to provide clamping force due to moment produced by the compression rings to ensure straight line motion
