Different kinds of Bags

Different Types of Bags

SCUBA
Divers bags come in all different types, from wheeled to open net. One of the most versatile and popular is the duffel, and it manages to incorporate many of the features of other styles of dive gear bags. Duffels are relatively inexpensive and easy to stow aboard dive boats. The heavier ones are even fine for travel with your gear. Mesh duffels let you rinse everything off after a dive without unpacking, while wet-dry duffels have a dry stow area and a mesh or ventilated area for wet gear. A good bag will have an ergonomic, compression shoulder strap and may convert from hand-carry to shoulder strap to backpack. The zippers are heavy duty, corrosion-resistant and the openings unzip in a wide U shape so you can get to gear easily. Some have exterior, zippered pockets useful for stashing a wet bathing suit. The larger duffels can hold a complete set of gear but are heavy to haul around. Be sure whatever size you get is long enough for your fins.

Soccer

Choose between a duffel or a backpack. Get one that is big enough for all your gear with extra room to spare. The duffels have two zippered end pockets and a wide-opening main compartment. Inside, there are smaller, zippered pouches for valuables; outside, there is almost always a stretchable net pouch to hold a soccer ball. The net pouch is also useful for wet clothes. Backpack bags have a main inside compartment for almost everything, a front zippered compartment for valuables, side pockets--usually mesh--to hold water bottles or shoes. And some have a net pouch or elastic bands on the front to hold a ball. Be sure to get wide, padded straps if you opt for the backpack.

Golf

There are four main types of golf bags--and hybrids that combine features. Choose from cart bags, stand or carry bags, tour bags or travel bags--or get more than one kind. Buy a cart bag if you habitually travel on wheels around the green. They are big, luxe, heavy bags with lots of features like separate compartments for each club, ball holders, umbrella pockets and mesh compartments for wet clothes. They have handles, but you do not carry these around the course you sling them in the back of the cart and transport them. Stand or carry bags are for lugging around the course, and have a retractable V stand that will hold them vertical while you tee up. They are slimmer and lighter than cart bags. Tour bags are the fat, feature-laden bags with prominent logos that caddies carry in tournaments. They have many of the conveniences of cart bags. Travel bags protect your clubs in the trunk or baggage compartment and the toughest ones are hard-case, durable plastic. Some hybrid bags are made for travel and the course.
