Abstract
Wireless sensor networks provide the smallest and cheapest form of wireless communicating and computing devices due to the advances in Processor, memory and radio technology. These wireless sensor networks pose significantly different design, implementation, and deployment challenges. In this project, I present a simulation of the wireless sensor network for paging applications. These pagers can provide small data transfer and can be used to transfer small pieces of information between themselves. A pager is a wireless sensor mote which can organize them in to a wireless sensor network. The program will take configuration _les describing a sensor network and the messages that should be conveyed to other nodes. The program will spawn UNIX processes each of which simulates a single wireless sensor node. For Medium Access Control I implemented a Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA MAC) layer and a simple data dissemination protocol called One-Phase-Pull. There is also a radio layer which provides data transfer in a wireless environment.
