KALAPTARU adopts latest technology for carrying out its design, drawings and other related activities .Computers
Are extensively used for all its activities .In-House design programs for Space Frames analysis (3D) as well as Plane Frame analysis (2D) have been developed .Internationally reputed STAAD-II packages is also used for developed designs.
Drawings are developed on AUTO-CAD, BOCAD, IT-Tower, PLS Tower, PLS CADD, STAAD, and With the In-House interactive programs, this fabrication drawing converted into CNC machine data for fabrication.

There are two main machines in which production is carried out
1) Manual Line
2) CNC line

Manual Line carries Machine Like
Straightening Machine
Punching Machine
Stamping Machine
Edge cutting

CNC line carries Machines
CNC machine which is carried out three operations in one Machine.
Three Operations in one M/c

(A) Mechanical Pressure Straightening Machine
It is manufactured by Radicand Company.
This M/c used for Straightening of angle plate.
This M/c contains two rollers
Upper rollers
Upper Rollers are adjustable with help of wheel provide the rollers. They are also adjustable as per as the thickness of the angle plate
Lower rollers
Lower rollers are driven by electrical motor. They are fixed. They are rotated by electrical motor.
As the plate is passed between two rollers the upper rollers are also rotated.
Capacity of this M/c is 40*40*3
Max capacity 110* 6
Four persons are required on this on this Machines

(B) Mechanical Pressure Shear cutting Machine
In this machine Mechanical pressure is used for cutting purpose. As per length of work piece is cut the fixture is fixed on the Jig. Lever is provided for the movement of cutting edge.
© Hydraulic Stamping M/c
In this M/c Hydraulic pressure is used for stamping purpose.
(D) Mechanical Pressure Punching Machine
This M/c is used for punching the hole.
Stud is used for producing holes at different position.
(E) Edge Cutting Machine
This M/c is driven by hydraulic pressure
For cutting angle edge this Machine is used.
Fixture is fixed on the Jigs as per the angle to be cut.

MATERIAL, FABRICATION, GALVANISING, BANDING, INSPECTION AND STORAGE
Material Quality control
Various grades of steel used in towers details of section, bolts and nuts and other accessories, need a detailed scrutiny and quality control procedure before being processed for fabrication, assembly etc.
Annexure 1 and 2 give chemical composition and mechanical properties of mild steel and high tensile steel used in towers. Annexure 3 (a) to © gives sectional details and properties of hot-rolled angle and channel sections.
Annexure 4 gives unit weights of plates of all sizes. Annexure 5 and 6 give dimensions of hexagon bolt and their mechanical properties respectively. Annexure 7 gives the properties of anchor bolts.
A well planed and executed quality assurance program is necessary to ensure delivery of acceptable material in a timely manner. Appendix 1 is a typical quality assurance plan giving details of the various processes, indicating process controls the various steps that are followed progressively at various stages of production to ensure right product as per the specification.
PRODUCTION CONSISTS OF THREE SECTION
1. FABRICATION
2. GALVANISING
3. BENDING

FABRICATION
KALPATARU has a single plant at Gandhinagar in Western India with an installed capacity of 54000 MT, which is second largest single unit in India.
The plant is equipped with most modern and sophisticated machinery including Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) machines for drilling, punching, cropping and stamping.
CNC machines installed in the plant are purchased from FICEP, Italy and are used most effectively with least down time with available in-house industrial engineering know how.
For better quality and efficiency, KALPATARU s plant in addition to CNC machine is equipped with automatic coping machines, Plate shearing machines and milling machines, which work to perfection.
GALVANISING
The plant has in-house galvanizing facility for carrying out hot dips Galvanizing.
The galvanizing plant is equipped with galvanizing bath having dimensions of 8M length with 2.4 M depth and 1 M width.
This is specially designed to dip shorter pieces vertically for higher productions and also maintain the critical temperature band, which is essential to get good and uniform zinc coating.
High velocity burners and automatic temperature control equipments are installed to maintain the required steady temperature.
The tower members, bolts/nuts and other accessories should be hot-dip galvanized and the spring washers electro-galvanized.
Galvanizing should be done in accordance with IS: 2629-1985, after the fabrication and the inspection at black stage is complete. The nuts may be re-tapped after galvanizing so that these are hand-free on the galvanizing bolts.
The galvanizing procedure and its in-process inspection are given in QAP (Quality Assurance Plan) Appendix
1. The galvanizing bath should be reasonably free from dross.
Chemically cleaned steel (after pre-treatment) should be dipped in molten zinc carefully.
On removal from the kettle the galvanized material may have excess shelter which may be removed from the surface by bumping or wiping.
The temperature of the shelter in the kettle shall be controlled within close limits by means of accurate pyrometers.
