NON-CONVERSIONAL ENERGY RESOURCES
#1

[attachment=636]
Abstract:
Wave power refers to the energy of ocean surface waves and the capture of that energy to do useful work - including electricity generation, desalination, and the pumping of water (into reservoirs). Wave power is a form of renewable energy. Though often co-mingled, wave power is distinct from the diurnal flux of tidal power and the steady gyre of ocean currents.

Generation of wave energy:
This is done by harvesting electricity from sea swells through wave farm.The world s first wave farm is built at northern Portugal.The $11m pelamis project named after a Surface-swimming sea-snake, which will initially generate 2.25MW of clean energy, enough to power 1,500 homes.once fully installed, Pelamis will meet demand for over 15,000 homes, and displace over 60,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. Pelamis energy converters rock with the sea (up,down and side-to-side) i.e,waves cause Pelamis to raise and fall in snake-like motion.pumping high-pressure fluid to hydrautic motors that drive electrical generators which produce power fed down umbilical cables to a single subsea cable to shore where it is tied into the land-based power grid..
