Flashing earring heartbeat monitor
An earring that flashes in synchronism with the wearer's heartbeat is introduced.The light emitting source flashes once for each heart beat A pulsed IR LED with photocell combination is built into an earring together with a comparator and a light-emitting source like an LED. The comparator determines the heart beat from the variation in the signal from the photocell and delivers a signal to a solid state switch which in turn turns on the light source. This article is about a simple heart rate monitor using 8051 microcontroller. Like the previous 8051 projects, AT89S51 is the microcontroller used here. The device senses the heart rate from the finger tip using IR reflection method and displays it on a three digit seven segment display in beats per minute. The circuit has an accuracy of 4 beats per minute and it is very easy to use. In medical terms, the technique used here for sensing heart rate is called photoplethysmography.

Abstract
The aim of this project is to implement an ECG and Digital Heart Rate counter. amplifying

the desired weak signal from the heart and isolating this from the noise signal from the

muscles were the main challenges. A display of the heart rate will also be implemented.The

time between signal peaks will be calculated and then the frequency of the peaks will be

obtained. Attempt is made to make the device portable. low cost amplifier and filter
