PERIPHERAL COMPONENT INTERCONNECT (PCI) BUS
What is a bus?

Communication pathway connecting two or more devices
Typical desktop PC has two main buses:
1)System bus or Local bus - connects CPU and memory
- fastest bus

2)PCI bus -connects hard-disks , sound cards
-slower bus
PCI BUS
Parallel bus
Developed by Intel in 1992
Interconnects chips, expansion boards and processor memory subsystems
5 volt, 33MHz, 32-bit bus with a basic data transfer rate of 133 Mb/s
Why PCI ?
The original PC b ....etc

Abstract
Compact peripheral component interconnect (CPCI) is an adaptation of the peripheral component interconnect (PCI) specification for industrial computer applications requiring a smaller, more robust mechanical form factor than the one defined for the desktop. CompactPCI is an open standard supported by the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturer s Group (PICMG). CompactPCI is best suited for small, high-speed industrial computing applications where transfers occur between a number of high-speed cards.
CompactPCI is a ....etc

CARBON NANOTUBES FOR VLSI: INTERCONNECT AND TRANSISTOR APPLICATIONS

Definition: Carbon Nanotubes

1.Single-wall carbon nanotubes (CNTS)are a new form of carbon made by rolling up a single graphite sheet to a narrow but long tube closed at both sides by fullerene-like end caps.

2.However, their attraction lies not only in the beauty of their molecular structures: through intentional alteration of their physical and chemical properties fullerenes exhibit an extremely wide rang ....etc

Initially electronics components in automobiles were few in number and they could be connected together by ad-hoc networks. And they could be re-designed for each vehicle if needed. But gradually as the customer demand for better comfort, better safety, governments regulatory policies and mandatory fuel efficiency requirements; the number of electronics components and systems incorporated in vehicles are on the raise. But as the number of electronics components and their variety in the automotive application space increased there arose the need ....etc

CompactPCI
A CompactPCI (cPCI) system is a 3U or 6U Eurocard-based industrial computer, where all boards are connected via a passive PCI backplane. The PICMG (PCI Industrial Computers Manufacturers Group) US and PICMG Europe organizations have standardised the connector pin assignments . The connectors and the electrical rules allow for 8 boards in a PCI segment. Multiple segments are allowed with bridges.Hot-plugging is a supported feature of CompactPCI.
Unlike the original Eurocard solutions such as VME, which use connectors with a ....etc
