Abstract
Conditions were determined for consistent coupling of a CO2 laser beam to weld 5182 aluminum
alloy sheet. Full penetration butt and bead-on-plate welds on 0.8 and 1.8 mm sheets were
performed. Process conditions examined included beam mode, spot size and irradiance,
shielding gas flow, and edge quality and fitup. The observed weld quality variations with the
different process parameters were consistent with physical phenomena and a threshold irradiance
model. Optimal conditions were determined for obtaining consistent weld ....etc

Aluminium conductor steel-reinforced cable (ACSR) is a type of high-capacity, high-strength stranded conductor typically used in overhead power lines. The outer strands are high-purity aluminium, chosen for its excellent conductivity, low weight and low cost. The center strand, or strands is/are of steel for additional strength to help support the weight of the conductor. Steel is higher strength than aluminium which allows for increased mechanical tension to be applied on the conductor. Steel also has lower elastic and inelastic deformation (p ....etc

ABSTRACT:
Conventional closed die forging, is widely used for manufacture of superalloy parts. Despite recent technological advancements in the area of forging design, empirical and trial-and-error methods are still widely used in forging super alloy materials. This paper investigates the effect of flash thickness and various geometrical forging design parameters including internal and external drafts and internal and external corner radii, on the die cavity filling, forging load and raw material cost when forging Nimonic80-A a superal ....etc

They re practically twins. Some might say this about superalloys and titanium, but as with most twins, there are a few subtle differences.

Materials like nickel-base, chrome-base, and iron-base superalloys are extremely heat resistant, even more than titanium, so most of the heat produced during machining is absorbed by the cutting edge.

This can wreak havoc on the cutting tool and cause damage ranging from crater wear, to plastic deformation, to complete tool failure.

Most superalloys are not flammable, so they can be machined with ceramic ....etc
