Mathematical Markup Language (MathML)

It aims at integrating mathematical formulae into World Wide Web documents and is an application of XML for unfolding mathematical notation and capturing both its structure and content. It is a recommendation of the W3C math working group. MathML deals not only with the presentation but also the meaning of formula components (the latter part of MathML is known as Content MathML). The user decides on how the content is communicated as the meaning of the equation is preserved separa ....etc

XBL or eXtensible Bindings Language is used to declare the behavior and look of XUL widgets and XML elements. In XUL one defines the user interface layout of an application, and then (applying styles) can customize the look of elements. The drawback is that XUL provides no means to change an element's function. For example, one might want to change how the pieces of a scroll bar work. This is where XBL comes in.

An XBL file contains bindings. Each of them describes the behavior of a XUL widget or XML element. For example, a binding might be ....etc

SSML is part of a larger set of markup specifications for voice browsers developed through the open processes of the W3C. It is designed to provide a rich, XML-based markup language for assisting the generation of synthetic speech in Web and other applications. The essential role of the markup language is to give authors of synthesizable content a standard way to control aspects of speech output such as pronunciation, volume, pitch, rate, etc. across different synthesis-capable platforms. ....etc

Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) is an XML standard for exchanging authentication and authorization data between security domains, that is, between an identity provider (a producer of assertions) and a service provider (a consumer of assertions). SAML is a product of the OASIS Security Services Technical Committee. The single most important problem that SAML is trying to solve is the Web Browser Single Sign-On (SSO) problem. Single sign-on solutions are abundant at the intranet level (using cookies, for example) but extending these sol ....etc

Open Web APIs in Teaching Web Mining

ABSTRACT

With the advent of the World Wide Web, many business applications that utilize data mining and text mining techniques to extract useful business information on the Web have evolved from Web searching to Web mining. It is important for students to acquire knowledge and hands-on experience in Web mining during their education in information systems curricula. This paper reports on an experience using open Web Application ....etc

When its time to find out how to make content available over WAP, we need to get to grips with its Markup Language. ie, WML. WML was designed from the start as a markup language to describe display of content on small screen devices.

It is a Markup language enabling the formatting of text in WAP environment using a variety of markup tags to determine the display appearance of content. WML is defined using the rules of XML-extensible markup language and therefore an XML application. WML provides a means of allowing the user to navigate around ....etc

Many Web pages today are poorly written. Syntactically incorrect HTML code may work in most browsers even if it doesn't follow HTML rules. Browsers employ heuristics to deal with these flawed Web pages; however, Web-enabled wireless devices (such as PDAs) can't accommodate these hefty Web browsers. The next step in HTML's evolution comes in the form of XHTML (eXtended Hypertext Markup Language), which is basically a combination of HTML and XML.

XML, the eXtended Markup Language, is a successor for SGML. More general than html, it incorporate ....etc

The World Wide Web Consortium has created an SGML working group to build a set of specifications that are easy and straightforward to use. The subset called XML has the advantages of SGML that is extensibility, structure, and validation in a language and is very easy to learn, use and implement than full SGML. XML is fully internationalized for both European and Asian languages, with all conforming processors required to support the Unicode character set in both its UTF-8 and UTF-16 encoding. The language is designed for the quickest possible c ....etc
