Abstract

The objective of this project is to determine the distance of underground cable fault from base station in kilometers USING AN Arduino board. The underground cable system is a common practice followed in many urban areas. While a fault occurs for some reason, at that time the repairing process related to that particular cable is difficult due to not knowing the exact location of the cable fault.

A fault distance indicator (FDI), locates a fault in a power line by modeling pulses of reflected travelling wave signals which are generated from electrical arcs that occur as a result of the fault. Open loop power distribution circuits are arranged in two halves, each half comprising a circuit length from the overhead feed point to an open point with transformers and cable sections located along the circuit length.
