Reinforced Concrete Water tank design is based on IS 3370: 2009 (Parts I IV). The design depends on the location of tanks, i.e. overhead, on ground or underground water tanks. rcc column and shear wall difference

RCC walls could be made either for retaining purpose for forces from other sides like soil, water etc. OR RCC walls could be made for partition purpose. But becomes a cost affair as compare to bricks. So you will find this generally in Chemotherapy room of the hospitals. And shear walls are generally made in RCC only. But same could also be made in steel structure, depending on the overall architecture of the building.
