Abstract

The demand for high-speed mobile wireless communications is rapidly growing.
OFDM technology promises to be a key technique for achieving the high data capacity and spectral efficiency requirements for wireless communication systems of the near future. This work presents an investigation into methods for maximizing the spectral efficiency of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The current standards such as IEE 802.11a in USA and H ....etc

Abstract

Comparative studies on DWT-OFDM and FFTOFDM systems are presented. The model for DWT-OFDM includes zero-padding and vector transpose for transmitting the OFDM signal. MATLAB simulation commands are also described. The discrete wavelet transform-OFDM (DWT-OFDM) has to satisfy the orthonormal bases and the perfect reconstruction properties to be considered as wavelet transform. Different wavelet families have been used and compared with the conventional F ....etc

Abstract

A complexity reduction algorithm for an H.264 encoder is proposed. This comes at the cost of the number of increased macroblock modes and the complex mode decision procedure using the rate-distortion optimization . H.264 demands a high degree of computational complexity to be able to make use of the advantages of its new techniques. Experiment results in show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the encoding time by 29.67% on average and the rate-distortion computa ....etc

ABSTRACT
In our project, we first build up a wireless communication simulator including Gray coding, modulation, different channel models (AWGN, flat fading and frequency selective fading channels), channel estimation, adaptive equalization, and demodulation. Next, we test the effec ....etc

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF WIDEBAND CDMA SYSTEMS IN A LOGNORMAL FADING CHANNEL

ABSTRACT

In this letter, the performance of a wideband CDMA system in the presence of Lognormal fading is studied. The wideband CDMA system, modeled using Gaussian Approximation is analyzed on a slow fading Lognormal channel which fades the amplitude of the transmitted signal according to the Lognormal Distr ....etc

Moments and Channel Capacity of Single and
Dual-Branch Receivers Over Weibull Fading Channels

ABSTRACT

Diversity combining receivers is the well-known technique used to combat fad-
ing and improve system performance. There are several diversity reception methods
employed in digital communication receivers including maximal-ratio combining, se-
lection combining and switched diversity. Among the combining methods, switched
diversity offers one of the least complexity solution for fading mitigation and ....etc
