Materials Required: A Resistance wire, voltmeter, ammeter, battery, rheostat, meter scale, one way key, connecting wires etc.

Theory: If I be the current flowing through a conductor & V be the potential difference across its ends, then according to Ohm s law
V I
or V = RI
Where, R is the constant of proportionality. It is known as resistance of the conductor.
V/I=R
R depends upon the nature of material, temperature & dimensions of the conductor.

Procedure:
1. Clean the ends of the connecting wires with the help of sand p ....etc

A sound level meter is a hollow wodden box used in the laboratory to study the transverse vibrations of the string. It is also called monochord because it often has only one sequence. In the rectangular box of wood there are two fixed bridges, near the ends, and at one end there is a pulley. A rope, often a steel wire is attached at one end over the bridges and pulley, and attached to a weight support that hangs below the pulley. Weights may be added to the support to cause tension in the wire, and a third movable bridge may be placed below it ....etc

Our Objective:

To determine the frequency of alternating current using a sonometer.

The Theory:

A sonometer is an apparatus used to study the transverse vibrations of stretched strings. It is in the form of a hollow wooden rectangular box. On the wooden rectangular box there are two bridges and a pulley at one end. A wire string is attached to one end of the wooden box, run over the bridges and pulley and carries a weight hanger at the free end

A sonometer is used to determine the frequency of alternating current. A step down transformer ....etc

Sonometer:

A sonometer is a device based on the principle of Resonance. It is used to verify the laws of vibration of stretched string and also to determine the frequency of a tuning fork.

Resonance: When the frequency of the applied force is equal to the natural frequency of the body, the body vibrates with very large amplitude. Corresponding intensity of sound will be maximum. This phenomenon is known as resonance.

A sonometer consists of a rectangular hollow wooden box called resonance box. resonance box
One end of a thin metallic ....etc
