Most of the research so far has focused on small-scale applications. But now, a team of researchers at Rice University has created carbon nanotubes that are hundreds of meters long, but only 50 micrometers thick. Researchers say there is no limit to how long nanotubes can be made, opening doors to large-scale applications, including the use of nanotubes as electrical transmission lines and as a basis for structural materials.

The scientists at Rice University, Texas, hope the armchair quantum wire (AQW) named after the shape of the nanotubes used could replace the existing copper-based grid in the US, which leaks electricity at an estimated five per cent per 100 miles.

The team, headed by chemist Andrew Barron, developed a way of manufacturing large quantities of the armchair nanotubes, which are good at carrying current but difficult to produce because they grow in batches and have to be individually separated out. ....etc

Good evening friends!!

I am Ravi kumar from Visakhpatnam doing B.E(Mechanical) final year. We decided to do a project on improving efficiency of boiler in thermal power plant. We chose thermal plant department in Visakhaptanm Steel Plant. We have submitted our project title in college which could not be changed.

But we learnt in plant from our guide that there is nothing in plant to do to improve boiler efficiency and he is neither supporting us.

Hence i want any of project ideas or already done project ....etc
